pregnancy post // month five.

August 20, 2017

Weeks 17-20

17 weeks:
  • The round ligament pain is unreal this week. So much pressure!
  • I am also feeling a ton of little movements and some stronger ones, so crazy to experience this a second time!!
  • Picking up Solomon can be quite uncomfortable at times, then sometimes it's not a problem at all.
  • Had a dream that I forgot about the new baby and couldn't find the baby anywhere in the house!!
  • Still craving salads like crazy!

Ooops, I missed 18 weeks since we were so busy!

18 Weeks:
  • Waiting patiently for the very sharp and painful round ligament pain to die down!
  • Holy constipation. TMI? sorry..... keeping it real, pregnancy is full of fun things, right?
  • Got to hear the heartbeat at our appointment and little babe was moving constantly! The midwife had a hard time getting a steady heartbeat but said it was around 150. She also guessed a girl but Solomon was usually around 150 and constantly moving also!
  • The dreams this week are unreal. Scary ones, weird ones, constant dreaming all night!!

19 Weeks:
  • My round ligament pain is gone!!!! Hallelujah! So nice to feel back to "normal"!
  • Starting to feel some nesting urges and I'm sure that will crank back up even more once we know the sex of the baby later this week.
  • Feeling the baby move so much and I absolutely love it!!!!
  • I think Solomon was the first person to feel the baby move! He was pressing on my belly a little bit while I was rocking him and he was almost asleep. I guess the baby wasn't happy about big brother pushing, so it was a very strong movement! Like a big kick for the first time and then Solomon jumped and re-positioned himself on the other side. It only makes sense that he felt it and then reacted, sibling kicks already!!
  • We found out the news!!!!! Baby boy! Brothers, I can't believe it!

(the photo on the right is Solomon's "thumbs up" for a baby brother, haha!)

20 Weeks:
  • Exciting trip to NJ to see family!
  • Starting to get uncomfortable at night if I eat too much during the day. Small snacks and meals throughout the day is much easier.
  • I forgot about the numb feeling at the tip on my belly under my bra during my last pregnancy, until it happened this week. So weird and annoying!
  • Handled a lot of walking and flying very well, making sure I drink a lot of water!
  • We went to Costco for groceries, and after moving all the boxes and food to the conveyor belt to pay, the little guy kicked me so hard it made me jump!! The lady checking me out laughed at me. We have a very strong boy growing!
  • Woke up the day before 21 weeks with a massive baby moving and kicking! It was wild how much bigger he seemed over night and I could tell exactly where he was in my stomach and feel his whole body move around. So much fun!

a beach kind of pool.

August 17, 2017

Our first full day in NJ was a lot of fun thanks to the Graydon Pool! It was the perfect before naptime activity. Solomon was asking for the beach, like he does eeeeeveryday, but even more so since we got on an airplane to fly to Jersey. He was so excited to go to the "pool" with his cousins since it had sand like the beach!! The water was perfect for the little guys to walk around and explore since it wasn't that deep.

Oh, just my kid trying to kill himself, like normal. Such a monkey!

It was also a lot of fun to hang out at a spot where daddy used to play when he was growing up. I love a good nostalgic moment and this place was full of nostalgia. It was fun to listen to his family talk about where they used to sit and play as they remembered all the memories from when they were young. I loved watching Solomon and Peter play and create new memories together. It was a very sweet full circle moment. I hope we have a lot of future days at this spot with our family and their cousins!!!

bath, beach, pool... any kind of water, all he needs is two cups, and he's a happy guy!

My guys, love them so much!!!

we are having a......

August 11, 2017

Happy 20 weeks to our second baby boy!!!!! We are so excited to have another boy in the family. Solomon is still calling him a sister, but he does say he wants a boy, so there's that. I'm officially a boy mom!! My dreams are coming true ;)

While cleaning out the office (future baby boy's room) with my mom last week, I found the board from our Solomon Announcement! So I thought if we did have another boy, I could tweak it a bit and add something to it. It's so fun to keep up with traditions! We all know how I am about special traditions, right....?

Sweet boys, my sweet boys! Plural!! I can't believe it. My head is spinning with ideas and dreams of having little brothers in our house. Such a special gift that we are giving Solomon, and I pray that he learns to love his new best friend. Now, if we could only agree on a name for the little guy......

brother or sister.

August 3, 2017

I thought it would be fun to do a little post with all the old wives tales of baby predictions! I did the same last time with Solomon, and followed my gut in guessing a girl. I was wrong, obviously.... so I don't take much pride in my guessing. I will say that I'm going to be shocked if we end up with another boy. This pregnancy has been night and day different, but I'm also chasing around a toddler this time around.

One thing for sure though, I can wholeheartedly say that I would be so excited, and happy with either. A brother for Solomon would be so fun, thinking of two boys sharing a room with bunk beds and wrestling one day makes me happy. I've always dreamed of being a mom to boys. But, on the other hand, a girl would be so fun and new. The first girl in the big crew of Eliya boys. She would clearly be a perfect mixture of tomboy and girlygirl, I'm sure. Like I said, either way will be so exciting and fun!!!! We find out a week from today. I can hardly wait!!!

So, what does the big list of boy vs girl say for us this time around.....?

1 // belly position
high for girl, low for boy

2 // heart rate
above 140 for girl, below 140 for boy

3 // skin
splotchy and acne for girl, clear and glowy for boy
(the ONE THING that truly makes me thing this could be a girl, cause my skin was perfection last pregnancy! & I also just felt pretty all the time, not so much this time!!)

4 // sweets
craving dessert for a girl, same as before for boy

5 // hair
no growth for girl, shaving daily for boy
(& this one is really throwing me because with Solomon I hardly shaved, but this baby is making me out to be chewbacca or something!)

6 // chinese gender test

7 // garlic
love it but don't smell like it for girl, not a fan of it for boy

8 // nausea
sick and throwing up for girl, no sickness for boy
(I was way more nauseous this time around, but never got sick)

9 // husband
gaining weight with you for girl, staying the same for boy

10 // mood
moody for girl, mellow for boy

11 // ring test

12 // urine color
bright yellow for girl, dull yellow for boy

Let me also say, that most of these things that say girl, also said girl last time with Solomon! Part of the reason my gut told me girl the whole time. What is your guess.....?? I'm excited to share the sex of our sweet baby #2, after we share the news with family and friends!

goals // 8.17

August 1, 2017

Well, I totally skipped the July goals, so we will just move on to August. You can thank crazy summer days, pregnant brain, which also gives me double mommy brain. ;) Thankfully, I did try and work on the June goals......

June Goals
1 // uhhh.... actually blog some - the blogging isn't back to normal, but at least I did some! Especially the trip to Florida. The new design is making me so happy and I feel a big rush of creativity. I want to get back to writing and sharing in my old routine.
2 // get the house back in order - thankfully, the surge of second trimester energy has helped with my cleaning routines, but it still isn't where it was several months ago. Slowly but surely it will get back!
3 // organize Solomon's room and clothing - this is the main thing I want to get done this month! I'm planning to get the office (baby#2's room) cleaned out so I can move the crib in, that way I can finish updating Solomon's room. I'm excited to share the changes to his room soon!!

August Goals
1 // organize Solomon's room and clothing
2 // share the complete weaning process since we are officially finished
3 // finish planning Solomon's second birthday party
4 // begin a set time a day with Solomon for pre-school activities
5 // announce what are second little babe will be

friday mornings.

July 31, 2017

The past several months have been spent doing the same thing, almost every Friday, and we love it! Unless Solomon is sick, or I'm sick, or it's raining, we are at Swamp Rabbit for some playtime with friends. I have my friends, and they have their babies, who are conveniently Solomon's friends! ;)
A total win/win.

Solomon gets so excited each week when I tell him where we are going. He exclaims "mooooothi!" because he knows we get to split a yummy treat. A big smoothie full of local fruits & dairy, paired with a perfect cheddar and kale scone. The perfectly crunchy and fluffy scone  is the most exciting part to me, honestly. Don't get me wrong, I love my friends, but that scone is amazing! Sadly though, they are taking a break from the kale scone since kale isn't in season now. Just another reason to look forward to September! Mmmm, my mouth is watering right now just thinking about it. Until then, we will enjoy some cheese puffs, which are also very tasty.

Friday mornings are the best! It's a dirty mess and all the toys are hand me downs that have been loved by many kids. But I think that's what I love most about Solomon playing there. It doesn't need to be fancy, just a fun morning with his friends. Definitely check out Swamp Rabbit if you are in Greenville, it's worth the trip!

toddler littles.

July 26, 2017

Our little monkey is a full on toddler. I know I've been saying that for a while now, but each day it is more evident to me. He is a mess, a sweet and crazy, mess.

one // while playing and running around the house, he will randomly look back at me and give me the sweetest most adorable grin. It's the cutest!!!

two // over the past several weeks I've realized that we have a rough night of sleep if he doesn't have a bath before bed. I've never wanted to give him a bath every single night, but if it helps him sleep all night, we'll do it!

three // my grandma watched Solomon for a little while this morning when I needed to run an errand. When I called on my way back to check on them, he wanted to say hi so she gave him the phone, he then said "hi mommy", and it was this crazy overwhelming feeling. I have a kid. Not a baby, but a full on toddler kid. He can say hi mommy to me on the phone. How does this happen so quickly?!?!

four // with the allergies I've been fighting lately, I've been sneezing randomly throughout the day. Anytime I have a big sneeze, he stops what he's doing to say bless you. I've have to try and record it sometime!

five // he's constantly hungry and comes to me and says eeeeaaaat with a big smile. We have to have several snacks throughout the day to make it to lunch and dinner.

six // since I've been pregnant I crash almost everyday around 4. I've learned the easiest thing to do is let Solomon have a little TV time so I can also rest my eyes. Even on days that I don't need a nap, he insists that I lie down for night night. He brings me the pillow and says lay, night night, mommy and then gives me a kiss. He may just want to watch TV but it's still pretty cute. The picture above is our TV time today.

and this one also, even if he's not lying beside me he wants to touch me somehow. Absolutely kills me!

pregnancy post // month four.

July 24, 2017

Weeks 13-16

13 weeks:
  • Heart rate was 145 at our midwife appointment at 13 weeks. Solomon also called the baby choo-choo, since the heartbeat sounded like a train.
  • Feeling much better and some days I don't feel nauseous at all. I'm not needing naps everyday either!
  • Went on vacation to FL which was so needed and enjoyed!!!
  • Still craving salads and veggies, but also sour patch kids. HA!
  • Nausea is officially gone! HALLELUJAH!!!!

14 weeks:
  • Finishing up our vacation in FL and the crazy heat and walking has not helped my round ligament pain. Trying to stay hydrated and rest as much as I can.
  • The belly is officially big all day now, definitely bigger at night, but it's there when I wake up too!
  • Felt the baby more for the first time!!!
  • More energy in the morning has helped with the cleaning routine so much! Thank GOD!!! But, I still need a nap in the afternoon, even if it's 5-10 minutes.
  • Craving any kind of Japanese food, especially sushi! Literally all I can think about!

15 weeks:
  • My belly doubled in size after Friday night. When I woke up on Saturday morning I was shocked!
  • Love feeling little peanut moving around several times during the day now.
  • Still feel a crash around 4 everyday. Crazy how I can't even keep my eyes open.
  • My hair and nails are growing so fast which do not happen last time, even though that is normal when you are pregnant with a boy, apparently? I'm having a lot of girl feelings, I can't wait to find out! Either way I'm so excited!!!!

16 weeks:
  • Back in the gym multiple times a week and feeling great with morning classes. More energy = better workouts!
  • I literally can not handle the heat. Just can't.
  • I want to eat all day..... just snacking and eating all day long and trying my best to make good decisions. Thankfully salads are sill my favorite!

summer nights.

July 18, 2017

Last week we went to the Greenville Drive thanks to an invite from Peter's office. I'm not a huge fan of the hot summer heat right now, never really have been, but this pregnancy is giving me a whole new level of despise for summer. (PLEASE send fall weather quickly, Jesus!!!) So, I was excited when they invited us to come to a game in the box. AC pumping, yummy food, and sweet tea kind of box. It's always nice to have a random Thursday night family date. Solomon was so excited to see baseball in action, ride a trolly to and from the field, and spend some time with Momma and Daddy! It was a good night!!

This boy is getting bigger and bigger each day, right before my eyes. We forgot to bring his sippy cup to the game and he was dying for some water. Of course he didn't want me to help. Big boy, ya know.... so I gave him the bottle and was totally expecting it to end up in his lap. Nope. He started guzzling the water and even put it in the cup holder once he was done. How is he so dang big??? I catch myself just staring at him in disbelief sometimes, wondering where my baby went. It's the craziest bittersweet feeling my heart has ever felt. Thank God for the sweet part, right?

I was trying to be sneaky and take a picture of Solomon watching Peter from inside the box, then he saw me and gave me that little grin, below. This kid kills me!

Such a fun family night for us, thanks to Peter's work. Again, I am so thankful for the opportunities that we have as a family because of his job.
